Dr. Himika Gupta is an ophthalmologist with over 10 years experience in Eye Care and Ophthalmology.
She did her MBBS from the prestigious Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital Parel, Mumbai and MS (Ophthalmology) from Government Medical College, Nagpur.
She then trained in ocular oncology at the LV Prasad Eye Institute (Hyderabad) and was involved in the National Retinoblastoma Registry under ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research). Thereafter, she trained at the KBHB Eye and ENT hospital, Mumbai and worked with the cancer genetics team at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
Apart from being an ophthalmologist, Dr Gupta is an ocular oncologist and ophthalmic plastic surgeon with special interest in artificial eyes and eye cancer patients.
International Experience
Canada: She further specialized in her interests overseas, by training in Canada, at the Hospital for Sick Children, the University of Toronto and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She worked at the Ocular Oncology service at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and was involved in the validation of 8th Edition of the AJCC classification system eye tumors.
USA: She has been an international clinical visitor at premier American institutes including Wills Eye Institute(Philadelphia),Cleveland Clinic(Ohio) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre(New York). She has trained in facial aesthetics, Botox, cosmetology and silicone oculofacial prosthesis.
Institutional Work in India:
She worked at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore as ocular oncologist and co-incharge of the retinoblastoma services. Her areas of expertise include orbito facial reconstruction after trauma or cancer resections, tear duct disorders, cosmetic lid surgeries, eye sparing treatment of eye cancers, vision therapy, cancer genetics and oculofacial prosthesis.
Community Work
Dr. Himika Gupta has been closely associated with the NGO called Doctors for You (DFY). She is the Ophthalmology In-charge for nationwide eye related projects of this organization. She is particularly focused towards early detection of eye problems in very young children and providing eye screening for children of primary government schools in underprivileged and remote areas of the country.
Besides this, she regularly renders community services in various places like orphanages, special schools, churches, Senior Citizen’s forums etc.

Research Work
Dr. Gupta is passionate about research and has authored many research articles in reputed international journals. She is a reviewer for three international journals and is currently involved in numerous collaborative research projects, some of which are international.
Teaching Experience
Always a very enthusiastic teacher, Dr. Himika has been student’s favourite for over a decade now.
She was Asst. Professor in Ophthalmology and continues to contribute to teaching and learning with her student’s, optometrists, post graduate and undergraduate doctors.
She gives lectures extensively and has more than 50 invited guest lectures and talks to her credit. She was voted as the “Most Likable Teacher” by the student medical council in 2009.
